It's Early, But Oh Well

Today I'm thankful for Christmas.

I should have mentioned when I started these posts, that I used Random.org to figure out what order to write these posts in. So, if you don't like it blame them. :)

Anyway, where was I?

Oh yes. Christmas

I love Christmas!

I actually think it was appropriate that I'm writing about Christmas after my German Heritage. Most of my family's tradition at Christmas come from my mother's German background.
I won't tell you all about them here. I'll save that for next month.
But OH, the excitement is brewing though.

I'm thankful for Christmas because of the wonderful, delicious, yummy things that come from the kitchen and stores.
I'm thankful for Christmas because of all the beautiful lights on and in the homes everywhere.

I'm thankful for Christmas because of the music it brings. Especially the classics sung by the crooners like Frank Sinatra, Perry Como, Bing Crosby, Dean Martin, and the Chipmunks. ;)

I'm thankful for Christmas because of its great movies. Home Alone 1 & 2 (after that it's a bit sketchy), The Grinch, Miracle on 34th Street, It's a Wonderful Life and so on and so forth.

I'm thankful for Christmas because it brings family together for a great cause. Giving me presents.....I mean giving each other presents! Hehe. Got ya! But really I love being with mine and my husband's families. I love seeing the excitement the kids get when they open their gifts. When someone is opening a gift from me, I'm most likely more giddy than they are.

I'm thankful for Christmas because the spirit that is everywhere. Everyone is more generous, kind, loving, gracious.

I'm thankful for Christmas because we celebrate the birth of our Savior. He gave us so much and did so much for us. I'm thankful that we have this to show appreciation for the sacrifice Joseph and Mary made to make sure this incredible and important person made it into the world.
Not having kids myself, I can only imagine the serious discomfort Mary struggled with traveling on a donkey for so long. And how brave Joseph must have been to take on the responsibility to take care of his oh-so pregnant wife and soon to be child.

I'm thankful for Thanksgiving as well because it really paves the way for Christmas.
