"I Belong to The Church of Jesus Christ..."

I'm thankful for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
More specifically, today, I'm thankful for the Gospel that it teaches.

There's no way that I could explain everything about the church so that those of you who are not members, will be able to understand all of it.

However, there's a few things I think I could touch on that you all might be able to appreciate.

I'm thankful for my Savior, Jesus Christ, who sacrificed His life to save all of ours. And for our Father in Heaven, who was willing to let His son come to Earth to make that sacrifice.

I'm thankful that because of that sacrifice I can take part in the blessing that comes from it.
The Atonement, meaning Repentance and Forgiveness.
Many people know that I grew up LDS. Not too many people know that I haven't always been active in the church.
At some point, I started living my life in a way that didn't fit within the guidelines of the church. I didn't do anything illegal so you can calm down, but I wasn't the Molly Mormon I had grown up being. Finally, something happened to me that made me re-evaluate how things were going and what it was that I believed.
Once I realized my testimony, I began my Repentance process.
I remember the first time I prayed for Forgiveness from my Heavenly Father. There is no other joy that compares or can be imitated.
I KNEW that my Heavenly Father did forgive me and that He loved me.
I was completely overcome.

That, really, is how I know that I do have a Father in Heaven and He has a plan for me.

I'm thankful for the knowledge that my Heavenly Father does love me. Even when it seems like no one else could.

I'm thankful for the knowledge that death in this life is not the end. I WILL see my family who have passed, again.

My Grandpa on my Dad's side passed away when I was in Seventh grade.
I love him very much and to have him pass was very hard for me. He died a week after my birthday and a few days before my Dad's.
My Grandpa was a hard working man.
He was a wonderful Grandpa.
He nicknamed me Suki. I'm still not sure why. :) But I loved it.
Through the Gospel I know that I can see him again.
I wrote a post about when Ty's Grandpa passed away. I didn't get a chance to get to know him very well, but someday I will.

I'm thankful for the scriptures that give me guidance.
I'm thankful that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, as I believe it to be, visited Joseph Smith in the Grove. Thus beginning Joseph's journey to becoming the Prophet.
I'm thankful for the continuous Hope that my Faith gives me to be strong through anything.

If you are LDS which part of the church are you most thankful for? Is it the Primary children? They're pretty cute.

If you are of another Faith, what is it about your church that is special for you?

  1. Thanks for sharing your beliefs... and why. I don't know much about LDS, because there aren't many where I live (more of a Baptist community)... but I find other religions fascinating!

  2. I'm not LDS.
But the favorite thing about my faith is the personal relationship I have with my Savior, Jesus Christ. To know that he knows everything about me, and calls me into fellowship with him, is a feeling I can't fully express.

  3. I'm a born again Christian myself. My church isn't aligned with any particular denomination, but I'd say that it is pretty close to Baptist. You know, as I grew up, I was always taught a lot of things about the LDS church from my Pastor, which I won't repeat here, because they are unkind (and they sound like they're untrue). I'd love to know how so many Christians got the idea that Mormons weren't Christians. Until I started reading ThatWife, I had no idea that you guys even believed in the same saviour that we do. How weird is that? But thanks for sharing, and God bless :)
